The german silent film SYLVESTER (1924) directed by Lupu Pick is the current restoration project of the Deutsche Kinemathek Berlin. The film is an important document of Weimar cinema and tells the dark story of a derailed New Year’s Eve. Based on the original composition of the premiere music by Klaus Pringsheim and in close cooperation with the conductor Frank Strobel, film and music were reconstructed. The handwritten score provided essential informations about the original cut of the film. Set anew by Jörg Peltzer, the score will be recorded this year by the MDR Symphony Orchestra.
The European Filmphilharmonic Institute is looking forward to the result.
